Warwickshire County Council faced the challenge of modernising the management of Warwick’s iconic Market Hall Museum, a 17th-century landmark, while addressing immediate maintenance needs. Nationwide Drones, in partnership with AIM, provided a comprehensive solution designed to support both current project requirements and long-term asset management. This project brought together advanced technology and precise digital modelling to empower Warwickshire County Council with an effective tool for managing this historic building.
The Challenge
Managing a historic building like the Market Hall Museum requires an approach that respects preservation while enabling modern management. Warwickshire County Council aimed to streamline maintenance processes, implementing a solution that would ensure the museum’s upkeep and support efficient asset management into the future.
Nationwide Drones and AIM’s Solution
Nationwide Drones and AIM deployed an innovative, multi-layered approach to capture and model the museum’s structure:
-
Aerial Mapping: Using high-resolution drones, our team captured detailed aerial images of the Market Hall Museum, providing an accurate overview of the building’s exterior dimensions and surrounding landscape.
-
Mobile Laser Scanning: Both the interior and exterior were scanned using mobile laser technology to capture even the finest architectural details, creating a comprehensive record of the building.
-
3D Modelling: The data collected was transformed into a high-fidelity 3D model. This interactive model provides Warwickshire County Council with an in-depth view of the museum, invaluable for both maintenance planning and long-term asset management.
-
As-Built Drawings: To support current and future works, we produced a 3D Revit model alongside AutoCAD drawings, delivering accurate dimensional data essential for project planning.
-
AIM Platform Integration: Central to the project’s success is AIM’s digital platform, which serves as a unified source of truth for all asset data. This platform allows stakeholders to collaborate efficiently, storing documents, assigning tasks, and tracking updates around a centralised digital model.
